The Gingham Styles You Need

Every year, I pick up a couple of gingham pieces. I love the classic feel of gingham. It’s a print that reminds me of Spring and Summer.

I had to snatch up this dress as soon as I saw it! If I didn’t, I knew I would regret it!

What Is It About Gingham Anyway?

Gingham has some interesting origins. Although we associate gingham with all American style, according to the Wall Street Journal, it actually originated in Southeast Asia. Also, this print didn’t start out as the checked print that we see today.

Additionally, gingham’s history includes France, Britain, Germany, and Italy. And you thought it was just a cute print!

“While it’s probably true that you can’t buy that French je ne sais quoi, you can do the next best thing and start wearing gingham.

Why Gingham is a Favorite.

What I love about gingham is that, of course, it comes in one of my favorite color combos, black and white. You can check out that post, Wearing Black and White, for more on why I like that pairing.

Likewise, this is a sweet and feminine print. That opens up the door to matching up with unique colors and textures. Think a denim jacket or sweater. Or, you can pair it was a basket purse like the one in this post here.

This dress is as classic as it gets. It’s a shirt style dress with pockets. I added my own belt for a bit more structure. It does have a fabric belt of its own.

I picked up this top as well! Have had this one on repeat on my Instagram Stories
