Christmas Eve Recap: Sequins and Denim

So, I originally was going to wear my faux leather leggings for Christmas Eve.  I changed my mind after I saw this sequin skirt.

Just a little background on how my family does Christmas. Christmas Eve, Noche Buena,  in Dominican Republic is a big deal. You stay up late, eat good food, and exchange gifts at midnight. Both of my parents are immigrants from there so we have kept the tradition going. Before I got dressed, I was cooking  in the kitchen working on our dish. The post on the dish I made is here .

Back to clothes…

When thinking of an outfit, I start with one piece. Then I build the rest of my outfit around that piece. That clothing item becomes the “inspiration” for the outfit. A sequin skirt inspired me this time.

That’s what we are mixing up in this post.

I like to mix up formal and casual to come up with an outfit that is unexpected.  This Target Who What Wear Sequin Skirt adds that something unexpected. The color is more of a gunmetal grey than black. Love that. Another thing that I like about this skirt, besides the price, is the fit.

In terms of the fit of this skirt, it has some stretch and can be pulled on. It hugs your curves but you can still move. I am wearing a Large. Pencil skirts are pretty reliable in terms of being a flattering fit.

The Denim shirt is from Target as well. I got this Target Merona Denim shirt this past summer. Super soft and comfy. This is one of my closet essentials. I wear it often and in different ways.
